JESUS KNOCKS

Rev. 3:20 says, "Listen!  I am standing at the door knocking!  If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you, and eat with you and you with me."

For Jerry, years ago, and still now, it was one of the greatest messages of promise in word pictures found in the Bible.  Jesus says to every human being that He desires to have a relationship with each one personally.  He will be like your best friend that you enjoy being with for meals, fellowship and just hanging out.  Jesus desires that kind of personal relationship.  The big kicker, however is that individually each one of us has to open the door on our own.  No one else can or will open the door to Jesus for us.  He says this is a matter of our will....will I open the door to Jesus?

There is no equivocation in this picture.  Each of us must say, "I am totally in charge here.  Either I open the door--or I don't--there is no other choice.  What I decide will impact me for all of eternity.  I can invite Jesus in or I can pretend I'm not at home when he knocks.  My choice...and yours!"

Ten years ago, Jerry finished with this prayer, and I use it today in hope that each of you will use your own voice so the words chosen will be from your heart and mine. I'm clearing my throat right now, so I can speak with true desire.

"Lord Jesus, thank you for seeking me out personally and knocking at my door.  Please, Lord, come in.  Amen."
