NO TIME TO STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES

On June 13, 2006 Jerry wrote about Pressing On.  Phil.3:12 tells us, "Not that I have already obtained the goal, but I press on to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me His own."  Paul writes to the believers in Philippi to tell them that even though he was their teacher of the way of Christ, he's not "finished" yet.  He hasn't reached the goal.  He tells them...and us...he and they must always know as long as they have life on this earth they're never going to be done pressing on.  If you're not moving forward, you're falling behind. The life in Christ is a continual pushing forward.

"If I ever begin to think that just because I'd retired from my years of secular work, I can also sit back and retire in my Christian faith, Paul would say, "No, you can't stop yet, Jerry."  Neither he nor I nor anyone else is ever done--ready to retire and just sit back.  Lord Jesus, Keep me from ever thinking, 'Well now, I can just relax, sit back, and smell the roses.' As long as there is life in me, I want to keep pressing on in my faith-walk."

There is no time to stop and smell the roses, for wherever we look there will be work to be done.  The lady who lives across the street, George?  I need to talk to her, and tell her we missed her this past winter.  And, I need to keep praying for her. She does not care for people who try and share their faith, so I could stand having a prayer said for me, too!  God can reveal Himself to others without me ever using His name.  It's a rainy day; a good day to make some soup and take George a bowlful!

Won't you have a cuppa soup made with love, too?
