NO BIG-MOUTHED LITTLE BEAVERS!

Jer. 46:17 says, "When they get home they will nickname Pharaoh "Big-Talk-Bad-Luck."

Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, was on his way to attack Egypt.  The great Egyptian Pharaoh was about to be defeated, and badly.  Egypt, the great nation was no longer so great and God told Jeremiah that the mighty Egypt would fall.

Nebuchadnezzar was a power-house, but Egypt still lived in its glory-days.  Imagine the dismay of Egypt who thought they could take over the world, but it was not to be.  Braggarts often fall, their hot air unable to sustain them.  My husband's phrase for braggarts is, "Big-Mouthed Little-Beavers," not too different from our scripture's nickname for Pharaoh, "Big-Talk Bad-Luck."

God, we know none of us is totally free from Pride.  Pride that goes to bragging is not what is becoming to your people.  Forgive us when we live too close to triumph. May we each always remember, victory belongs to You.  Amen.
