In 3 John 4, 11, the Word states, "I have no greater joy than this--to hear that my children are walking in the truth...and do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good."
The writer of the above is an elder and supervisor over several churches and writes to encourage the leadership to lead people to follow truth and goodness. Some of the local leaders are leading the people improperly to follow a lie and not the truth of the gospel of Jesus, his death, resurrection, and ascension, and imputation of the Holy Spirit. False teaching must be cut off to prevent people from being led astray.
As a mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother, I understand this message on a personal basis. My joy is complete when I see my children and their children and grandchildren following the Way of Jesus. My heart explodes with gratitude when I can read their smiles at having found Him and are celebrating His love for them. Who can ask for anything more?
My heart grieves when I see those who would deny Christ and imitate what is evil, but I will continue to pray that someday....someday they will also walk in goodness and truth!
