In John 7:5,, 15 and 48 we find the following words, "For not even Jesus' brothers believed in him....The Jewish leaders said, "How does this man have such learning, when he has never been taught?"...Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in Him?"
Although Jesus' mother told the attendants at the wedding in Cana of Galilee, "Do whatever He tells you to do," there is no record of any of his brothers or friends who were believers while he lived. Certainly, His mother and His father knew of His incredible birth and life, and angels had spoken to them regarding early dangers concerning their son, Jesus. The authorities did not believe in Him as He had no official training. Only those who were simple, common, everyday people were called by Jesus to be His disciples and eventually fully believed He was the Messiah. Yet, even His own disciples turned and ran from him when the "going got tough."
Our belief will never come through our intellectual knowledge, but through our hearts. And by following through by our faith.
Lord, I believe; remove my unbelief. Amen.
