Job 35:6-8 asks us, "Do your sins hurt God? Is any good you may have done at all helpful to God? The evil or good you do only affects other humans."
"This was argued in the Old Testament by Elihu to Job, but doesn't ring true to me at all! Although I may be wrong, I think that my sins directly hurt God. In fact, they probably hurt God more than those affected by my sin on earth! If I was not a child of God, living in Christ, living eternal life day by day, I don't think my sin would hurt God. But once I have given my life to God, what I do is of great importance to God--both the good that I do and my sinful acts. Each affect God and God's love for me. The good I do is done to give God honor and when I deny God through my pride or anger, I hurt God's honor.
"What God's children do, whether good or not, affects others around us, our family, our church family, our church's reputation, Christians in general, and ourselves. Plus it reflects upon God and God's honor, as we are One in Him.
"God, help me remember that when people see or hear me, as your child I am an extension of You. Help me to live in a way that you might always be honored by my actions. Amen."
Hope you are with me on this one.
Lovingly, Jo INMN
