SHEEP AMONG WOLVES

Matthew 10:16 says, "See I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves."  Jesus warns His disciples--and us today--to understand that they and we are like sheep among a pack of hungry wolves. (Does this not remind you somewhat of the enemies in our world today?)  The difference is that Jesus sends them and us out with His power.  We are not lost sheep, but sheep obedient to the shepherd sent out with the shepherd's power.  We are aware of the predatory and insidious ways of the wolves of the world.  Jesus is always there as our shepherd, even when we're surrounded by wolves.  The wolves with ways of this world will always try to ridicule and diminish the sheep of God in their midst.

We must not forget when we feel anxious or afraid when surrounded by  wolves of the world, that Jesus is there beside us and in us.  He has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you."  When I am weak or unaware as a sheep often is, and neither wise nor completely innocent, Jesus becomes like a lion, the shepherd that protects.

Our call is to seek Jesus and His help.  Lord Jesus, I thank you that you don't send us into the world on our own. May those who fight against your spirit see the Truth of your majesty.
