Years ago, when Jerry and I began the prayer journal for our kids, we came up with three tips on prayer to pass along. Mark 11:21, 25 tells us, "Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith that you will receive it." and "When you pray, forgive others."
What an astonishing thought! Jesus tells us that we only must have absolute, unreserved faith and believe that what we pray for we will receive. Yet, He also warns us that when we pray, we must have a forgiving spirit. We should like to add a third point, too, to make three tips on prayer.
1) Be careful to pray positively, within God's will. We have the power to curse as well as
bless. See Mark 11:14.
2) Have a forgiving spirit and connect to God, asking forgiveness. Be a forgiving person
before prayer.
3) When we pray have faith that God will bring our prayer to pass in God's time; we must have
faith in God's power to do it.
God, help us to remember these three things, that our prayers for ourselves and our loved ones will be fruitful for us and give a victory to you. Help us to love so much that we will always bless others and forgive others, asking for forgiveness, for ourselves, as well. And God, give us the kind of faith that can move mountains, the kind of mountains that souls like ours find impossible to climb without faith in your powerful hands. AMEN.
Here we go!
