EASTER--NOT QUITE YET!

It is the day before Easter.  It is morning and the sun has yet to shine...just as it was many years ago   when  all of Jesus' friends and family had been in sorrow since His death on the cross yesterday. Jesus' mangled body has laid behind the great rock since yesterday's eve.  It is very quiet in the garden, and the woman waits. She does not know why she waits.  It is over.  He is gone...forever.

Saturday before Easter Sunday. Many of us are wondering where we will be tomorrow. One remembers her appointment to get her hair done today. Her son is coming to dinner tomorrow.  Another wishes she had invited her neighbor to Sunday's dinner.  Is it too late? she wonders. As a gentleman yawns and looks into his bathroom mirror, he wonders if church will be so crowded tomorrow that he might be more comfortable staying home. Another Easter, another year gone by.

Easter Saturday finds many of us at cross purposes. Why all the preparation  for Easter Sunday?  The day Jesus died has been long forgotten for most and most don't even know what Good Friday is all about! And Saturday is just another Saturday...and for that matter...just the day before another Sunday!  Yet we do make preparations.  We prepare our hearts once again for the greatest gift God could give us....a resurrected Lord!

Is my heart ready?  Is yours? Tomorrow we celebrate the gift of God in each of us.  We celebrate our Resurrected Lord!  Born.  Died.  Reborn! And also, we celebrate our own new birth. And another gift that follows our acceptance of His Life in us....the Holy Spirit.  Come one! Come all and be glad.!  Celebrate!Tomorrow is coming!  Praise God!
