In Deuteronomy 34, verses 1 and 5 and also from 1 Corinthians 2:5, have these words are for us today: "Moses went up to Mt. Nebo (where God said he would die) and showed Moses the whole land to be inhabited by the tribes of Israel." And God told Moses, "I have let you see it with your eyes. Your faith is to rest not on human wisdom, but on the power of God."
Moses was a man called of God, as was the Apostle Paul, and others. God laid His hand on them at different times and they revealed to others, not intellectual wisdom, but the wisdom of God's Spirit. Paul made clear to his churches that he came without personal pretense to preach the gospel, so that faith would be received by the people, not from human wisdom but only through the power of God. The world calls faith foolishness because it doesn't understand that faith comes only through God's power and presence.
I must pray for the mind of Christ, so when I witness to Jesus, I do not call attention to myself, but reflect the wisdom of Christ which holds God's power; therefore, others might believe. If I come across as the one who has wisdom or insight, I prevent people from having their hearts opened to the mind of Christ, and their faith will not grow.
Lord, may I and all of your people, pray that we might have the mind of Christ in all things, that others see only you. Amen.
