Another teaching about pride comes from Psalm 59:126--"Let my enemies be trapped in their pride." And indirectly from Mt.4:24, "So Jesus' fame spread throughout all the land, and they brought the sick to him...and he cured them."
In the Psalm of David, David implores the Lord to let those who are out to kill him, like Saul and his army, be trapped in their pride, such as overestimating their abilities. As a contrast, Jesus' fame spread throughout the land because of the miracles He did, but He never became prideful. Jesus gave all the Glory to His Father.
This is a good warning to all like me who might become prideful when things are really going our way. An old friend of mine used to say, "Never wave at the crowd too early." In Jesus case, He never waved at the crowd, but gathered them to Himself. This should also be my model. Give God the Glory.
Lord God, Keep us pointing to you and not to ourselves. Amen.
These things are a reminder to me. Perhaps they are to you, too! If so, also remember....we're in it together!
