GOD'S UTTER EXTRAVAGANCE!

In Ephesians 1:17 it says, "I ask...God...to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing God personally, your eyes focused and clear so that you see exactly what it is God is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life God has for Christians.  Oh, the utter extravagance of God's work in us who trust God--endless energy,, boundless strength."

This prayer of Paul's for the people in Ephesus is a "must" prayer for all of us!  We must pray it for each one in our families, each person in our churches, our neighbors, friends and each person with whom we come in contact.  It is a prayer we also need to pray for ourselves.  (I'm not very good at memorizing, but maybe I'll make a copy and keep it in a pocket!)

Yesterday we attended the funeral ceremony of a great example of God's extravagance in the life of a woman who loved God.  The church was packed with women (and probably their husbands)who had watched her serve God faithfully all of her life, and by her service had encouraged those women to also serve God in a like manner. Cancer took her, but she went into the arms of our Lord.  She was the best example I know of what God can do in a person's life with her endless energy and boundless strength!

God, we pray for all of our families, as well as ourselves, the prayer of Paul, that we might know You personally and see  exactly what You would have us do.  And we praise you for your utter extravagance in loving us. Amen.
