Today we'll look at 1 timothy 5:8, "Whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." Wow!
Although these aren't words of Jesus, the author of Timothy stresses the importance for those who can to care for those of their family to meet their needs. As God's children, He faithfully cares and provides for those who trust in Him. In that same sense, if we have the means, we are to care for, support, pray for, and assist our birth family as well as our Christian family.
God calls me to not be selfish but to be there for those around us, to help when times are difficult.
Lord God, give me a heart that sees and meets the needs of others, whomever they may be. AMEN.
I have two sisters, still alive. One has a small home in Wisconsin and one has an apartment here in MPLS MN. If they should ever need a place to live, I hope they would come to me. They are precious to me, yet I am unsure of how we would be if we lived together. It would probably be much like we were when we were kids. It would take the help of God for us to make it. but if we were all alone, I would definitely try. It would take the best of God's work, I think, to make it work out for the three of us! But with God, I know, everything is possible!
