In 1 Kings 16 and Col. 1:15 and 16 we find..."The various kings of the northern tribes sinned against God and were killed after a very short time on the throne." And, "Christ is the human image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation, for in Him all things in heaven and earth were created, both things visible and invisible."
Through the history of God's chosen people there has been continual distrust of God's plan for His people. There was rebellion and rejection, and so, destruction. Therefore, God created part of Himself to be visible in human form. From this, Jesus brought God's message of love clearly to all humanity and yet many rejected, and still reject God, even through Jesus. Some say they have found God through religions that do not include Jesus, but few believe as Christ taught to "love one another."
God again and again allowed and still allows forces of destruction to awaken His people. Christ came and became salvation for many. Yet, some still reject His message, so God gives them up to their sinful ways and separation from Him. God demands of all, you and me included, that there be no mistake or misunderstanding, we are to love God first and our neighbor as ourselves. When we do not, chaos, death, and separation are the inevitable results.
Yet, we cannot be entirely blameless when others attack our people and our culture, for we are wealthy as compared to others. We must seek God to learn how to love others in spite of our differences, and to share our wealth with those who suffer. And we must pray to God continually, to continue to use the "sword of love" to open hearts and minds, that love might be used to change the actions of the world.
Lord, open our eyes to understand that Love must be our weapon of choice in our world today. Amen.
