OUR UTMOST

Luke 12:48b states, "If God has been more than generous (with us), God will expect us to serve Him even better."

God has been more than generous with me, and, probably, with you as well.  Here is my list: He's given me a wonderful husband  in Jerry who has put up with my idiosyncrasies.  He's given me children who love me and have shown me their love even after they have their own families.  He's given me loving grandchildren, and even a couple of adorable great-grands. He's given me a doggie that kisses, friends that miss me when I'm away and a God that is always there for me.

But, perhaps the best form of generosity to me is that God corrects, yet His correction is a gift, teaching me through His correction.  God forgives me and leads me to a better place.  God even hung on a cross until death, for me, that I might be forgiven of any sin I may ever commit.  Those who do not believe that He died for them, too, are to be pitied for they cannot seem to accept that kind of love.

How can I even begin to serve God as God is entitled?  No matter what I give in return for God's love, I cannot out-give the Master Giver.  The only way I can serve God properly is to make sure my motives are right, my attitude is loving, and my goodness free.

Help me, Lord , to give my utmost. Amen.
