REVISION OF PSALM 88:3-18

"Although I am deeply troubled, yes, close to death, completely helpless, I remember that life is better than death, for you do not forget me; you will help me.  Although I feel dead and buried because you are angry with me and I have turned my friends against me, I shall escape from this prison and turn a blind eye to my sorrow.

"I LIFT MY HANDS IN PRAYER TO YOU, O LORD.
Only you can work the miracle of forgiveness in those who are the walking dead.
Only you can lift us up to stand tall, to raise our hands in praise and song.
Only your love can bring life to us once again.
Your loyalty touches us with your saving power.
We will see the miracle in our dark, forgotten worlds.
And once again feel your warmth and light.

Yes, each morning I  pray to you, Lord, and try not to fear your rejection although I deserve your turning from me.
I choose to become well and alive through your great power and grace.
I refuse to be terrified, but seek you with joyful anticipation, confident of your help.
Yes, I recognize and deserve your anger; I am humbled and grateful for your correction given because of your love for me.
Darkness has been my companion, but I turn to your light.
Please accept me again that I may be obedient to your call and serve you with my love.

Lord Jesus, This psalm originated before you came to this earth.  Knowing you, Jesus, would keep me from Psalm 88's original total despair.  I hope you will be honored by this re-writing; it is meant to honor you.  Amen.

To my friends of blog-land:  This revision was written to help me always turn to God when I found myself in a dark place without God.  I hope you will find it useful in your walk with our Lord.
