A GIFT FOR GOD

Ephesians 1:6 tells us, "God wanted us to enter into the celebration of God's lavish gift-giving by the hand of God's blessed Son."

"Here we are entering the Christmas season and this beautiful verse pops out at me!  God has lavished incredible gifts upon us!  Paul wanted the Christians of Ephesus to be excited abut God's gifts and that excitement carries over to us in this time.  What are those gifts Paul is talking about?

"The Church itself is a gift.  trusting in God is a gift.  Love for God and one another is an  incredible gift.  The desire to obey is a gift.  Forgiveness? What a great gift!  Freedom is another.  Being free to choose God or not is, perhaps, God's most unselfish gift.  And then there are all of those individual gifts that make each of us who we are and yet mold us into the Church itself.

"There really is no end to God's gifts.  Just look around.  the world, created by God and given to us...all s eye candy.  Gift upon gift upon gift are ours to enjoy...and use.  And the use of them is up to us.  Now, what am I giving God this Christmas?"

Lord Jesus, you were the greatest gift of all.  And your Holy Spirit, as well.  May I utilize all you are and become a gift to you?  And, Lord, may I see others in this world, whether or not they are like me or entirely different, those that may even cause me harm, may I see each one individually as one whom you love. Amen.
