SLAVES

"In 2 Peter, he says, "People are slaves to whatever masters them."  Peter declares what we all know!

"Whatever is in the center of our being and our focus in life becomes our master.  We block out anything that interferes with our  progress toward that goal, and it in effect, becomes our master.  We become enslaved to pursue that goal above all else.  It might be education, money, personal fitness, acceptance by others, a love relationship, or whatever.  It doesn't matter, because that particular thing becomes our singular focus.  If Jesus Christ is Lord and Master of our lives we become "slaves" in the best way to Him, just as Paul, Peter, and the other early leaders of the faith.

"How do I keep a check on who or what is my master today?  I can tell by my checkbook and see where I spend my money.  Where my money is, there is my heart!

"I want Jesus Christ alone to be my Master, with everything else second on down.  I want to be His, to walk and talk with Him and to share His love with all I meet.  That is my goal.

"Lord Jesus, I desire to be yours, to be your slave, and you my Master.  Amen."

Jerry wrote these words years ago, still believing today that it is the right road to follow.  It is the right way to go.  He may not do this perfectly, but well enough to prove his love for Christ.  And, after all, that is what we are all about, is it not?

Lord, each of us here on this earth wants to prove our love for you.  Help us to cherish and reveal your worth and not measure our own in any selfish way. Amen.
