John 6:35 tells us more about Jesus, "I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me and I in them. Because of these words many disciples turned back and no longer went with Jesus."
"Jesus' words were spiritual in meaning, but those whose ears were not opened by the Father took the words literally as though it meant something cannibalistic, and many including some of His followers said, "This is too hard. He can't possibly be the Messiah!"
"But Jesus went on to say that no one can come to Him unless granted by God to have an open heart. I thank God that my heart was opened to hear these words and understand their spiritual meaning. Those of us today have communion services to help us understand that the bread is symbolic for Jesus' flesh and wine for His blood, yet also believe that Jesus is somehow present in these symbols.
"Thank you, Father, for drawing us to Jesus and for giving us open hearts. Amen"
