GIVING BLESSES THE GIVER

In 1 Timothy 6:10 it says, "For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to become rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains."

"This statement is often misquoted to say that money is the root of all evil.  Yet that is not at all what scripture tells us.   It is the love of money that causes our downfall because what we love we give our entire self to, forgetting and setting aside everything else.  When money is the center of our love and our life God is pushed out of the center and we begin down the path to catastrophe. The scripture says not only do we lose our faith focus in Jesus Christ, but we actually set in place the circumstances that will inevitably result in much pain to ourselves and our loved ones.

"(Jerry says), I must always remember that money is not evil in itself.  It is simply a tool, a means to an end.  Money can be used to be generous to help others in need, strangers or family, to pull them out of poverty.  Money is simply to be a vehicle for good, never my central focus.

"Lord Jesus, may I never put anything at the center of my life except my love for you, and may I keep everything else subordinate.  Amen"

These words and prayer, written long ago, still have great meaning today. Every family the world over desires to have money enough to keep their family healthy.  Sadly, this is not the case, even in our own country. Do you not think that God is so generous with those who love Him that they have at least a little they can give to those going through hardship and God does allow us to be in that position now and then.  I know, especially at Christmastime, folks think of other families and their needs. We also think of our favorite charities, and give a little extra.  Many can afford a lot; many just a little.  Whatever one gives to those who are in need is blessed, and the blessing continues around the circle  of love, until the giver is given the blessing most blessed.

May you and I receive a Giver's Blessing from God!
