CHOSEN BY GRACE

Romans 11:5,6,29 tells us, "So, too, at the present time there is a remnant (of people)chosen by grace; it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise, grace would no longer be grace....for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."  Here, the Word tells us that God chooses us for Himself on the basis of the love we have for Him, rather than the works we try to do.

"Before Christ, the path of being right with God was to obey the laws and the commandments.  Each person was to work to be right with God by their own effort.  When Jesus came, He turned this concept upside down.  He said that no one comes to the Father unless the Father calls him.  That means, God alone by His grace chooses us irrevocable.  We can accept or reject His grace and His calling.

"I know that nothing I do, can on its own, keep me right or wrong with God.  He has called me to be His.  I've been chosen by Him to receive His grace through no merit of my own.

"Lord Jesus, your death and resurrection have once and for all paid the price for sin in me.  Praise you for calling me to be yours.  Amen."

Needing no addition or subtraction, the words are as true today as they have been for centuries!
