Romans 9:11,12 says, "The Lord preferred Jacob to show that God makes God's own choices and that it wasn't because of anything Jacob or Esau had done."
"God has pity and mercy on anyone God chooses; we are not to question God. In the case above Jacob was the younger twin. The eldest was usually given the most honor in a family and would receive the blessing of the Father. In this case, Jacob tricked his brother, Esau, into giving him the blessing. God did not stop him.
We have each been given life and a purpose in that life. Whatever our purpose, whether servant or king, we are to perform it with grace, and God will be pleased. Think of the Pharaoh at the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. God hardened his heart. We don't really know why, other than to assume it was because it was important that God needed the Jews to truly want to get out of Egypt. It was God's choice to have Pharaoh stubborn.
I have been granted a kind, generous husband who loves God and also I have been granted children who love God, too. My grand-children are numerous and hold the promise of faith to come and three great-grandchildren hold the same promise. God has given this family gifts, talents and opportunities to use these gifts. I do not have great riches or fame, but I am more rich than many by comparison and have more attention than I deserve.
God, I thank you for the reminder that my pride may over-reach what your plan is for me. Let my mind and heart be cleansed from those aspirations which do not come from you. Amen.
Hello, to all my blog friends! And I hope these words are a help to you!
