MY TIME IS YOUR TIME

In John 7 verse 6 Jesus is speaking to his natural brothers, born of Mary and Joseph a question about why he did not go back to Judea where he was known.  Jesus answered, "My time is not yet come, but your time is always here."

"When Jesus' brothers questioned Jesus about why he did not go back to Judea in order to let himself be more well-known, Jesus answered that His time had not yet come.  His brothers were not believers in his being the Messiah, but they did hear word of Jesus' miracles and perhaps hoped to gain something from his fame.  Jesus answered them that His time had not yet come.  His brothers were not believers in Jesus being the Messiah, but they did hear word of Jesus' miracles.  Jesus also told theme that their time is always here.

"What Jesus said fits into today's Christian activities.  Jesus' time to return is still not yet here, but our time is always here--to  reach out, to feed and clothe the poor, to find peace with others, to create goodness, honesty, and beauty.  Jesus will return some day and then His time for ruling will be upon the earth.  But the world until then, will not become changed and adoring of Christ if we don't pick up Jesus' work and carry it out."

At this moment, I interrupt Jerry's words and put some of my own in, for the time now is more desperate even than it was when these words were originally written.  The spell now is that a great enemy is at hand trying to get different faiths to war with one another, rather than the world fighting against the terror that this enemy is pushing upon the world.  How can we fight against it without weapons?

Oh, we can.  Yes, we can.  We can love one another.  We can love the people who yet do not know Christ.  We can love each other and try to protect, in love and with love, one another...male or female, children and the old, mothers, fathers, all nationalities, all faiths, all color, rich or poor,
everyone we meet or contact. Spoken word, written word, repeated word, handshakes, smiles, tears, any loving emotions we can share.  And fighting against fear, everyone, all together trusting God is with us, for us, and not against us.

Can we do it?  God, Now is the time.  May we not be afraid to use the power you are sending to each one of us to continue your work in the world that has been set before us. Give us your grace, your peace and the certainty that you are with us once again. Amen.

Onward, as Christian Soldiers!
