DISCIPLINE YOURSELF

In I Peter 1:13 the word says, "Therefore, prepare your minds for action; discipline yourself; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you."

Peter's 1st Letter reminds the readers that they will face persecution and testing and therefore will need to be ready to endure and persevere. God allows this as He wants to embolden His followers.  Peter says to prepare your mind for action.  When the mind is prepared in advance, it can guide the actions to withstand any barrage from persecutors.

We are not persecuted in our world, at least not very much, I would say.  Christians in the United States have more freedom, I believe, than the rest of the world these days.  We have lost some rights, yes, especially our right to have prayer  in our schools.  But, we are not terribly persecuted. We are embarrassed, perhaps, by some when our Christian thoughts are spoken, but not jailed or hurt.  At least, we are not hurt at this time!  But, who knows what our tomorrows may bring?

We must make advanced preparations in our minds in advance of any testing we may have to take.  The world is a rather scary place today with much killing of innocent people.  Tomorrow may bring  testing, ridicule,  persecution or death by the insane powers of the world. Only with Christ as a partner, will we be able to endure all things for His honor and glory.

Lord Jesus, empower your people to have discipline minds in advance of any testing we may need to make for Your sake. Amen.

We shall sing, rather than weep if that day ever comes.
