THE BELIEVING PRAYER

In James 5: 13-15 it reads, "Are you hurting?  Pray.  Do you feel great?  Sing.  Are you sick?  Call the elders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master.  Believing prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your feet.  And if you've sinned, you'll be forgiven--healed inside and out."

And this is good. We tend to do this... If you are hurting--pray!  Do you feel great?  Sing! Well, this is not wrong, but shifting an attitude can also work wonders.

Are you hurting?  Sing!  Do you feel great?  Pray!  It's hard to sing when you hurt, but it takes our minds from thinking of oneself as a victim to "I'm a victor!" And when we feel great what  better time to pray prayers of "thanks"?  Besides it's not all about oneself, so gratitude for feeling great puts one in a good frame of mind to pray for others.

God, you know I pray when I'm hurting, but sometimes you ask me to sing.  And you know I'm thankful when I feel great, but praying for others does seem to be an excellent idea as I'm not so concerned with "me" and can pray for others with a full heart.  Help me to pray believing prayers always, that your healing power might be released.  Amen.

What do you think, reader?  Good idea?
