Hebrews 12:7, 10, and 11 tells us about discipline. "Endure trials for the sake of discipline as God disciplines us for our own good, in order that we might share in His holiness.....Discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it."
The writer of Hebrews energizes the reader to remember that discipline is not pleasant for us, but it does train us to righteousness.
As we look back over our lives, we can usually see that discipline in many areas of life experience helped us rather than harmed. Today, I personally love to be a friend of Jesus and help others come to Him. I can see that discipline in many areas of my life experience helped me to become a better person. I love, rather than hate. I would rather help than hurt. The peace I feel when I conquer over being hurt is just as good as conquering over hurting someone else! Without discipline and testing, my life would have gone completely wrong. Instead of the wrong path, I prefer the path that leads to the destruction of pain and death.
Lord Jesus, You teach us to follow you by discipline. Seeing and feeling wrongness draws us to the place where I want to walk with you. Thank you and praise you for Discipline. Through your discipline I know your love. Amen.
