In 2 Chronicles 29:6-10, 20 and 26 we read that God is a jealous God. "When King Hezekiah sent couriers to the people of Israel to turn from their evil ways and come to Jerusalem for the Passover, the people laughed and mocked the couriers. But the people of Judah had a heart for what was right, to follow the Lord's commandments....The Lord heard Hezekiah and healed the people....There was great joy in Jerusalem for since the time of Solomon there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem ....Hezekiah and the people of Judah did all with a willing heart and prospered before the Lord."
The scriptures make clear that God is a jealous God. We must not ignore Him. The world must not ignore Him. There will be a price to pay. God wants us to follow Him with a willing heart, not out of compulsion, but with rejoicing. We cannot serve two masters--the ways of the world vs. the ways of God. Each of us must make that choice for ourselves.
I have no certainty that the God I know is in all religions, but I suspect if it is a loving religion, it is the God I know. I pray that those who believe in a different kind of god will come to know the loving, caring, joyous God I know, the One who sent the Lord Jesus into this world. But, I do know that if I were to choose to laugh or mock my God, or simply ignore God, it is not God who is responsible but me. God, from the beginning, has made very clear His plan for humanity.
God, may my heart be always joyous to follow your way. Amen.
